How does PCOS affect fertility?

If you have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome the timing of your ovulation is likely to vary from one cycle to the next. You may also have infrequent periods, making it impossible to know exactly when ovulation occurs. If you do ovulate, it's commonly late in your cycle. We created OvuSense just for women like you who want to know exactly what is going on and take back control of their fertility.

How can OvuSense help?

OvuSense is different from anything else you may have heard of, or used previously to track your ovulation. That's because it measures Core Body Temperature using a specially designed sensor clinically proven in 2 trials and 6 clinical publications.

Measuring core temperature enables OvuSense to track daily fluctuations in your progesterone - the hormone released during the process of ovulation, that also needs to be sustained in the second half of your cycle to help you conceive. This progesterone pattern is unique to you, and OvuSense uses it to predict your ovulation up to 24 hours in advance using current cycle data, confirm the exact date of ovulation, and monitor your individual pattern from cycle to cycle - meaning it works even if you have irregular ovulation as a result of PCOS or other issues.

You can also use OvuSense to track if fertility medications, supplements and lifestyle changes are helping with your ovulation timing and bringing your cycles under greater control.

What's the difference between OvuSense and other devices?

OvuSense works by using a vaginal sensor (the size of a tampon) to take your core body temperature every five minutes while you sleep, to build up a complete and accurate pattern of your fertility. In the morning, you simply download your data to your smartphone via the dedicated OvuSense app.

Ovulation tracking methods such as fertility apps, Basal Body Temperature (BBT) and skin temperature measurement are shown by clinical data to be inaccurate when there is any amount of variability in ovulation [1]. That's simply because they rely on data from previous cycles to predict when ovulation will occur in a following cycle. If you don’t ovulate in the middle of your cycle or your timing of ovulation is variable, then the prediction is likely to be incorrect.

OvuSense was developed to provide the same benefit as urine based luteinizing hormone tests (OPKs) by predicting the onset of ovulation up to one day in advance in real time in each cycle. However, it does so with greater accuracy [2], without having to repeat tests multiple times a day, and crucially OPKs don't work when variability in ovulation is caused by an ovulatory issue such as PCOS. [3].

Endorsed by doctors and fertility specialists, and able to work whatever is happening in your cycle, why use anything else? OvuSense is helping women all over the world just like you to take control of their fertility. [2]
