Dr. Samina Mitha, a naturopathic doctor, was diagnosed with PCOS about 12 years ago. It was then that all of her bothersome symptoms such as irregular periods, hirsutism, anxiety, stress, and sugar cravings began to make sense. However, when the time came for Dr. Samina to begin trying to start a family, her diagnosis made things a bit more complicated – until she discovered OvuSense. Below, you’ll hear from Dr. Samina on how she went from feeling stressed out and overwhelmed to pinpointing her ovulation and becoming pregnant.
Relieving Stress & Pinpointing Ovulation
After I learned of my PCOS diagnosis, my hormones were all over the place and I felt as if my options were very limited. Unsure where to begin, I was compelled to take action in my own hands and got help from a naturopathic doctor. It was then that I started to really understand my body and my health.
Fast forward several years – I started trying to conceive in January of 2020. Unfortunately, I found that ovulation strips were very stressful for me. Since stress plays a big role in my PCOS, I felt like it was making things worse. By the summertime of that same year, I began looking for a less-stressful way to track ovulation and came across OvuSense. OvuSense helped to relieve that stress brought on by ovulation strips – I didn’t have to worry about how concentrated my urine was or if I was doing the test at the right time of the day, etc. In the beginning, I was simply trying to learn more about my cycle, but I came to realize that the sensor was quite accurate in confirming ovulation, which was huge for me!
Getting Her Big Fat Positive
Once I was able to track and confirm my ovulation without all the stress, things became a lot more clear for me. In my case, I ended up having to use fertility medications and underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI). Although it took me a while to accept that getting pregnant wasn’t going to be a perfect, natural experience for me, I am so grateful for OvuSense, my fertility clinic, and my naturopathic modalities, which all ultimately helped me to conceive. This experience taught me that it’s best to try to remain open to the options available to you, even if they are not what you originally imagined. This was true for me, and it all worked out beautifully in the end!
Why I Suggest OvuSense to my Clients
In my practice, I often discuss OvuSense with my patients as an accurate way to track ovulation. With OvuSense, your App will tell you when you are going to ovulate, instead of notifying you when you have already ovulated, like with basal body temperature. OvuSense also benefits those patients who have LH strips that are positive every day. In addition, not only is it comfortable, but it takes the stress away and you don’t have to think much about it!
